Tim – the new owner of Merva – drove up from WA and spent the night on Merva. He met Jackie – who gave him the new ribbon. That was nice timing. It was super nice to meet him. I am sure we would spend time together if we were in the same town. He returned to WA the next day with some stuff loaded into his truck and the rest ready on the boat.
I returned to the boathouse later in the day and did a little tidy up.
The next thing on my mind (re. boats) is to pay remainder for Euphemia. I need to wire the funds on the 15th but I will do it on the 14th. Then I need to pay the tax on it (12k) and register the boat under new ownership. I have a quote for insurance (5k) but waiting to hear if anything cheaper can be found.
I expect the appliances to arrive today – but nothing? I will give them a call if they do not show up sometime tomorrow. Insurance went up and is now close to 5k. I am not sure who is driving up the prices for insurance (boat, house etc) – presumably claims – but I feel like we are paying for it. We have not made a claim. Not happy.
I am a ‘progressive conservative’. This usually means voting Liberal. However; the ‘People Party’ seems to have siphoned off the crazy (my opinion) people from the Conservative Party (and even some from the NDP). The Conservative party leader is in the progressive camp enough. I am also disappointed at how much the Liberal party gave out for COVID relief. It seems to me that some of it was ‘Greek style’ vote buying. So I am voting Conservative.
When a high school kid living at home with his/her parents gets 2k/month for COVID relief – that is wrong.
When someone takes an interest free loan for 50k (that they do not need) and then gets a bonus for paying it back early – that is wrong.
When someone takes COVID unemployment benefits when that person could easily get back to work in the same job or some other – that is wrong.
And there is plenty of this going on even now.
